Alitalia stops selling tickets for October and beyond

Alitalia, which is preparing to shut down, announced that it has stopped selling tickets for flights from October 15.

In the statement made by the airline, it was announced that from August 25th, ticket sales were stopped for the flights departing from October 15th and passengers were given the right to change or full refund.

Italy’s flag carrier airline Alitalia is shutting down. After long negotiations, the European Union and the Italian government agreed in mid-July to close the bankrupt Alitalia and establish ITA as a new company.

The new airline, ITA, received the necessary licences for air transportation and ticket sales from the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (Enac) last week and will start flights as of October 15.

Founded in 1946, Alitalia has been in bankruptcy since 2017. The airline was nationalized by the Italian government in March 2020.
