The search engine Google introduced a less contact accommodation experience for hotel guests with its new solution.
Within the scope of the new product introduced by Tom Franklin, product manager on Google’s blog, the Google Nest Hub smart screen has started to be used in hotel rooms, and guests will be able to request their basic services only by voice command.
From a Nest Hub smart display set up in each hotel room, hotels can tailor the guest experience with Google to specifically address common service requests from guests through a simple voice command. So you can say things like “Hey Google, schedule a wake up call,” or “Hey Google, ask my hotel for extra towels,” or “Hey Google, what time does the pool close?” and get answers immediately.
Guests using the solution can start a quick check-out service without queuing with the Google Assistant. Google Assistant can measure guest satisfaction with a survey during the stay and inform the hotel if something goes wrong. It can also introduce special events in the hotel to the guests with voice commands.
Nest Hub also offers hands-free in-room entertainment. Guests can watch news, music, etc. videos via voice command on YouTube via the smart screen, and play music from their phones by connecting via Bluetooth. If desired, the new solution also enables devices such as blinds, TVs and lights in the room to be controlled with sound.
With the new solution, guests will be able to follow the news or local weather and get information about places to visit. They will also be able to learn about the opening hours of restaurants and shops and other information about Covid-19 limitations.
Currently, Google’s new solution is used by some hotels in the U.S. and the UK.
