Airbnb announced a global ban on all parties and events at website listings, including a cap on occupancy at 16. This party ban applies to all future bookings on Airbnb and it will remain in effect indefinitely until further notice.
At the end of last year, the company announce that would impose a global ban on house parties and use advanced tools to prevent unauthorized parties. As a result of the new rules, the company also removed some of the listed facilities from its portfolio.
Airbnb initially sought to restrict unauthorized house parties to prevent possible acts of violence and damage to homes. However, due to the covid-19 outbreak, social health concerns have also been a valid reason recently.
The company imposed an age limit on some reservations in Canada in early February and in the United States in July to prevent unauthorized house parties.
