The UK Department for Transport has announced that people arriving into England from Croatia, Trinidad and Tobago and Austria from 4am Saturday 22 August 2020 will need to self-isolate for 2 weeks as the countries are removed from the travel corridors list.
Covid-19 cases, which have recently increased in these countries, were cited as the reason for the decision. While there were 10.4 cases per 100,000 people in Croatia on August 12, this number increased to 27.4 on August 19.
In Austria, the rate, which was 10.5 on August 13, was recorded as 20.3 on August 20.
Portugal has been added to the government’s travel corridor list following a decrease in confirmed cases of coronavirus.
Passengers arriving in England from Portugal at or after 4am on Saturday 22 August will not need to self-isolate, so long as they haven’t been in or transited through any other non-exempt countries in the 14 days preceding their arrival.
The United Kingdom had previously removed Spain, France and the Netherlands from the safe travel list.
