Spain hosted 2.2 million foreign tourists in June, 984.7% more than the same month of 2020.
In June, Spain received the most visitors from Germany with 500,000 tourists, followed by the French with 438,560 visitors and the Dutch with 147,312.
Spain’s tourist numbers are still well below pre-pandemic levels. In June 2019, the country hosted 8.8 million foreign tourists.
According to the data revealed by the Spanish National Institute of Statistics, in the first half of 2021 the number of tourists visiting Spain decreased by 49.6% and exceed 5.4 million. 10.8 millions of international tourists came to the county in 2020.
While 29.6% of the tourists who came to Spain in June preferred the Balearic Islands, 18.2% chose Catalonia and 13.4% chose the Andalucia region.
Spain’s borders were reopened to vaccinated tourists, including those from outside the European Union, on 7 June. The Spanish Government allows travelers who have been fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine to enter Spain, regardless of their country of origin.
