The German government extended the travel warning for more than 160 countries outside the EU until September 14
Government spokesperson Ulrike Demmer said the extension decision is due to the increased cases of covid-19 with those returning to Germany from holidays abroad.
The current warning was planned to end on August 31, now it’s is extended for another 14 days with the new decision.
On March 17, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas issued a warning against unessential touristic travel to more than 200 countries due to the coronavirus outbreak.
In June, Germany lifted the ban for all EU countries, the Schengen area and the UK, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City. Then four regions from Turkey ( Izmir, Aydin, Mugla and Antalya) were added in the safe list.
Germany currently allows passengers from 11 non-EU countries with low infection rates, including New Zealand and Australia.
