European Union added 11 new countries to the list of ‘safe’ countries that travel restrictions should not be applied to.
European Council has updated the list of ‘safe’ countries with the addition of 11 new countries.
Newly added countries are Armenia, Azerbaijan , Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei, Jordan, Kosovo, Canada, Moldova, Montenegro, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
United States, North Macedonia, Serbia, Albania, Taiwan, Lebanon, Australia, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand were already in the list.
The UK was again excluded from the list due to concerns about the delta variant.
The European Union had banned all non-essential travels from third countries to the union on March 17, 2020 due to the covid-19 outbreak, and gradually granted travel permission to a limited number of countries as of June 30, 2020. Since then, the list of the European Union has been updated periodically.
The decision of the European Union is considered as a recommendation and not binding for the member states.
