U.S. Government Ends Delta and Aeromexico Partnership

The U.S. Department of Transportation has decided to terminate the joint venture agreement between Delta Air Lines and Aeroméxico, citing Mexico’s non-compliance with the 2015 Air Transport Agreement as the primary reason.

According to the Department, Mexico’s actions since 2022—including the withdrawal of airport slots and forcing cargo carriers to relocate—have caused millions of dollars in additional costs for American companies.

As a result of this decision, the two airlines must cease all anti-competitive activities, such as joint pricing and revenue sharing, by January 1, 2026.
