In July 2025, Spain recorded 11 million international tourist arrivals, marking a 1.6% increase compared to the previous year. Total tourism revenue saw a more significant rise, reaching €16.45 billion, a 6.1% increase. This data indicates a strategic shift towards attracting “high-spending tourists,” as the revenue growth outpaced the increase in visitor numbers.
The average expenditure per tourist rose to €1,493, with a daily spend of €210. The Balearic Islands, Catalonia, and Valencia were the regions with the highest tourism spending, while Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, and Andalusia attracted the most tourists. Regarding accommodation, hotel stays increased, while there was a decline in private rentals.
The report also provides insights into key source markets and spending habits. The United Kingdom remained the top source of tourists, with over 2 million visitors in July. Following closely were France and Germany, though both saw a slight decline in visitor numbers. While the average length of stay shortened to 7.12 days, the significant increase in daily spending to €210 suggests that visitors are opting for shorter but more high-value trips. This trend, combined with the fact that tourist spending in key sectors like accommodation, international transport, and activities grew significantly, indicates a shift in traveler behavior towards premium experiences.
