According to provisional data released by Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the country welcomed 6,965,343 foreign visitors in August 2025—marking a 2.05% increase compared to the same month last year. The figures reflect a strong summer season for the Turkish tourism industry.
Top Entry Points by Province:
- Antalya was the most popular gateway, accounting for 36.93% of all foreign arrivals (2,572,471 visitors).
- It was followed by Istanbul (26.60% – 1,852,996), Muğla (9.54% – 664,219), Edirne (7.56% – 526,542), and Izmir (3.55% – 247,498).
January–August Overview: In the first eight months of 2025, Turkey hosted 35,481,223 foreign visitors—a slight decline of 0.9% compared to the same period in 2024. Istanbul led with 34.86% of total entries, followed by Antalya (30.87%), Edirne (8.68%), Muğla (7.04%), and Izmir (3.18%).
Top Source Countries: Russia remained the leading source of tourists, contributing 14.22% of August arrivals (990,709 visitors). Germany followed closely with 14.21% (989,839), then the United Kingdom (9.17% – 638,937), Iran, and Poland.
Modes of Entry:
- Air travel dominated with 76.68% of total entries.
- Land border crossings accounted for 16.17%, while sea arrivals made up 7.07%.
- Notably, train arrivals saw an 88% surge compared to the previous year
