Ronaldo Stars in New Saudi Arabia Tourism Campaign
A new global promotional campaign for Saudi Arabia’s tourism, featuring football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, has been launched with the slogan “I Came for Football, I Stayed for More.” The campaign, initiated by the Saudi Tourism Authority, targets key international markets, including Europe, India, and China.
The promotional film shows Ronaldo attending various high-profile events, such as Formula 1, combat sports, golf tournaments, and the Esports World Cup. The campaign’s goal is to position Saudi Arabia as a global sports and entertainment hub, moving beyond its traditional image as just a football destination. This initiative is a core part of Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” plan, which seeks to diversify the economy away from oil and attract 150 million visitors annually by 2030.
As part of this ambitious vision, the country is preparing to host major international sporting events, including the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, the 2029 Asian Winter Games, the 2027 Olympic Esports Games, and the 2034 FIFA World Cup. Ronaldo’s participation in the campaign serves as a powerful symbol of the country’s transformation and its efforts to become a major player in global tourism and entertainment.
