Etihad operates first commercial flight to Israel from a Gulf state

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways performed the first ever commercial passenger flight from a Gulf state to Israel.


On Monday morning Etihad Airways flight EY9607 with a Boeing 787-10 aircraft landed in Tel Aviv. The airline defines the flight a travel and trade mission.


Etihad said the 787 flight jointly made with the Israeli Maman Group is planned to bring “Israel’s leading travel and tourism leaders” to the UAE at the invitation of Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry.


Mohamed Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, president of Etihad Aviation Group, said:

“We are just beginning to discover the long-term potential of these newly established relationships, which will greatly benefit the economies of both countries, especially in the fields of trade and tourism.”


Al Mazrouei describes the step as a “historic opportunity to develop strong cooperation” between the two countries.


Etihad recently opened a Hebrew version of its website.
