India’s flag carrier Air India announced that in February 4.5 million data was stolen as a result of the cyberattack suffered by the information technology company SITA, which provides services to the airline.
The leak included personal data recorded between August 26, 2011 and February 3, 2021. The stolen data included name, date of birth, contact information, passport information, ticket information, Star Alliance and Air India frequent flyer data and credit card information.
In early March, information technology company SITA had announced that hackers had unauthorized access to passenger information of some airlines as a result of the cyber attack.
After the incident a group of Airlines including Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Cathay Pacific, Jeju Air, Malaysia Airlines and Finnair had announced that passenger data were affected by the relevant attack.
