Marriott International, Inc. today announced the highly-anticipated opening of JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Fengxian, marking the historic 50th Marriott International hotel to open in Shanghai. Fengxian is a suburban district south of Shanghai known for its rustic beachfront areas, national forest park and the old town itself, a popular weekend destination for Shanghai residents. JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Fengxian overlooks the nearby Jianhai Lake, a wetland that connects Huangpu River and the East Sea.
Designed by international design company PLD, the hotel’s style narrative is inspired by its natural surroundings, with its exterior imagined as the legendary bird Roc, from the fable of “Roc hopping into the sea”. The design elements also incorporate natural materials such as wood and marble in undulating, curvilinear forms that reflect the waves of the nearby East Sea. The hotel’s 265 guestrooms and suites offer luxurious comfort in restful shades of sable and blue, echoing the beaches and sea with clean modern lines and every thoughtful amenity for guests’ comfort and convenience.
Dining options at JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Fengxian include three distinctive restaurants and a bar, with menus featuring freshly harvested produce from the hotel’s own onsite garden, JW Garden. All-day dining outlet JW Kitchen offers a tempting menu of local and international dishes at live cooking stations, including a charcoal grilling station with the freshest meats and seafood. Fine dining restaurant Yan Xuan, with 15 elegant dining rooms for private events, serves Cantonese and Shanghainese delicacies paired with fragrant Chinese teas. Signature restaurant Shanghai Crab & Co. has tanks filled with fresh crustaceans and a menu featuring its signature boiled king crab and seafood towers. Throughout the day, guests can linger at the welcoming Lobby Lounge.
For flexible meetings and special gatherings, the hotel features fully-equipped conference facilities including a 1,800-square-meter, naturally-lit meeting area. A 900-square-meter grand banquet hall, a smaller 600-square-meter hall and four multifunction rooms offer the space and flexibility to host talk-of-the-town events, with intuitive service that is the hallmark of The JW Treatment. A spacious executive lounge makes an ideal spot to catch up with work while contemplating the surrounding natural scenery.
Inspired by the principles of mindfulness, JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Fengxian is a place of tranquility with abundant offerings to pamper guests. Spa by JW® offers spa treatments for guests to calm the mind and invigorate the body whilst a 24-hour fitness center and 25-meter heated infinity swimming pool lets guests choose their preferred workout hours. For the youngest guests, the hotel offers a Kid’s Club along with the brand’s signature Family by JW program, which features curated experiences designed for multiple generations to play together and reconnect. Activities for all ages include exploring Shanghai’s local cultural and historical heritage, as well as the surrounding natural environment.
