Accor is looking into a possible merger with the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG).
According to the famous Le Figaro newspaper, Accor’s CEO Sébastien Bazin formed a team to investigate the issue in June during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Le Figaro states that, the merger of the two groups complements each other geographically. Most of the IHG hotels are located in the USA, while the Accor group is the leader outside of China and the USA.
The Accor’s board of directors are in favor of the merger, but Bazin is acting with caution. In the possible agreement of the two groups, the world’s largest hotel chain will emerge.
Accor group owns 5,000 hotels in 110 countries, while 5,918 hotels are under the IHG chain.
