Royal Caribbean Floats Out New Icon-Class Ship, Legend of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s newest Icon-class ship, Legend of the Seas, has reached a major construction milestone by being floated out at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. The 365-meter-long vessel has a gross tonnage of 250,800 and a passenger capacity of 7,600. The ship is scheduled to enter service in August 2026 and will offer a variety of experiences across its eight different neighborhoods.

Legend of the Seas is set to begin its maiden voyages in the summer of 2026 with 7-night Western Mediterranean cruises. Starting in November 2026, it will reposition to the Caribbean for 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean itineraries. The ship will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and will use environmentally friendly technologies, such as waste heat recovery systems, to contribute to the company’s zero-emission goals.
