Princess Cruises has officially welcomed its newest vessel, the Star Princess, following a delivery ceremony held at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The event marked the completion of construction and the formal handover of the ship from the Italian shipbuilder to the cruise line.
Second Sphere-Class Ship Joins the Fleet
The Star Princess is the second ship in Princess Cruises’ Sphere Class and the seventeenth in its global fleet. With a capacity of 4,300 passengers, the vessel features over 1,500 balcony staterooms and 30 dining and bar venues. It also includes signature spaces such as The Sanctuary Collection (an adults-only retreat), The Dome, The Piazza, and the immersive entertainment venue Spellbound by Magic Castle.
Inaugural Voyage Set for October
The ship will sail to Barcelona ahead of its maiden voyage on October 4—a scenic 11-night Western Mediterranean itinerary.
Leadership Remarks
Princess Cruises President Gus Antorcha praised the craftsmanship of Fincantieri, stating:
“Today is a proud moment for Princess as we welcome the new Star Princess to our incredible fleet. This remarkable vessel is a testament to the innovation and craftsmanship of our long-standing partners at Fincantieri.”
The ceremony was attended by senior executives from Princess Cruises, Fincantieri, and local government officials, including Captain Gennaro Arma and Fincantieri CEO Pierroberto Folgiero.
