United Airlines to lay off 2,850 pilots this fall

United Airlines, one of the largest airlines in the United States, announced that it could lay off 2,850 pilots if the unless the federal government provides more support.

In an internal correspondence sent by United to the pilots, it was announced that the plan be implemented from October to November.

In the United States, airlines are supported by the state with payroll support and loans, but the state support and dismissal ban expires on September 30. If the financial support is not extended, layoffs are inevitable.

“In case the support package is not extended, we must prepare and plan for the future.

United Airlines, announced $ 1.6 billion loss for the second quarter of 2020. The airlines also announced in the beginning of July that plans to lay off approximately 36,000 employees.
