The engineering infrastructure and competence of SunExpress, the world’s fifth and Turkey’s best leisure airline, has been authorized with a “Design Organization Approval (DOA)” certificate for the aviation design and certification fields by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
With this certificate, SunExpress is stepping into a new era to represent our country in the international aviation sector as the second airline authorized by EASA in Turkey in this field.
SunExpress, which connects Antalya and Izmir, as well as 11 Anatolian cities to each other and to Europe with direct scheduled flights, has started to provide design, repair and approval of the “flight condition” in certain categories for aircraft in the fleet of both its own and other national or international operators.
Ahmet Çalışkan, Deputy CEO of SunExpress, stated:
“While the aviation industry has been going through a difficult period due to the coronavirus pandemic, I would like to thank all our team members for their efforts in obtaining such an important authorization. Now we are not only an airline that operates a fleet, but also an important aviation partner that provides repair and modification services for aircraft of both national and international operators.
As one of two airlines in Turkey capable of providing these services, this authorization is a very important and proud achievement for both SunExpress and Turkey. This success, along with our passion for aviation, is a result of our efforts to continue by increasing our support for Turkish aviation, tourism and the economy.”
SunExpress, which has previously received external support for these services, is now be able to prepare and approve Engineering Design, Certification and Flight Conditions packages in-house with EASA Design Organization Approval (DOA) authorization. This will allow the airline to significantly reduce modification costs for the aircraft in its fleet and to provide these to other (national and international) operators and customers.
