Spanish Iberostar set to establish its own airline

Aviation sees 8 accidents with 314 deaths in 2020

Spanish hotel company Iberostar plans to set up its own airline with a bold step despite the Covid-19 crisis.


Palma-based Iberostar operates more than 120 hotels in 19 countries and has around 34,000 employees. It is now establishing its own airline, World 2 Fly, and will start with an Airbus A350 type aircraft.


Gabriel Subías, CEO of World 2 Meet, a subsidiary of Iberostar, told Diario de Mallorca newspaper that the Caribbean will be the starting destination and flights to the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Cuba are planned.

The CEO added that the company already has an Airbus A350, and they are about to sign for the second.


The airline is scheduled to make its first flight in March 2021.


The Iberostar group runs several travel brands like Iberostar Hotels, Iberostar The Club, and World 2 Meet.
