British Airways CEO Alex Cruz steps down

International Airlines Group (IAG) parent company of British Airways announced today that the CEO Alex Cruz is replaced by Sean Doyle the boss of Aer Lingus


IAG’s new CEO, Louis Gallego, has made a number of management changes since taking office in September.


Gallego promoted Doyle to be the head of British Airways, the group’s largest airline, on Monday.

Stating that they are facing the biggest crisis the industry has experienced, the IAG adds that Cruz has been the chief executive of British Airways since 2016 and will remain non-executive chairman throughout the transition period.


Cruz and Gallego had previously worked together at the Spanish airline Vueling, which is now also owned by IAG.
