Azimuth Airlines will become the first Russian operator of Airbus A220 aircraft.
A joint statement between Azimuth Airlines and Airbus at the International Aerospace Show in Moscow was signed by the Director General of Azimut Airlines Pavel Ekzhanov and the head of Airbus in Russia Julien Franyatt.
Azimuth Airlines plans to receive six aircraft by 2024 under a lease agreement with Air Lease Corporation. The delivery of the first aircraft of the new type is scheduled for mid-2022.
The airliners will be delivered in a single-class layout for 148 economy-class seats. The aircraft can cover distances of over 3000 kilometers. Azimuth Airlines plans to operate the A220 on both domestic and international routes.
In its class, the A220 aircraft is the quietest and most environmentally friendly, and also has a comfortable cabin with wide seats. Currently, more than 160 A220 aircraft are operated by airlines on all continents.
