The Air France-KLM group and Amadeus announced an innovative NDC distribution agreement.
With the new agreement, Air France-KLM inventory will be offered to travel agencies through Amadeus Travel Platform and NDC-enabled solutions.
In a press statement by Amadeus; Pieter Bootsma, Chief Revenue Officer Air France-KLM says:
“We’re pleased that our NDC content will soon be accessible to Air France-KLM partner agents via the Amadeus platform,” comments Pieter Bootsma, Chief Revenue Officer Air France-KLM. “NDC is a key innovation for Air France-KLM as it allows Air France-KLM customers to benefit from more attractive and customized offers, such as continuous pricing and tailor-made bundles. ”
To access Air France-KLM content distributed via NDC, travel agents will need to sign bilateral agreements with both Air France-KLM and Amadeus.
The Air France-KLM group has been working with Amadeus for the past few years to integrate NDC services into the Amadeus Travel Platform. Prime booking flow such as reservation, purchase and payment is already integrated. Amadeus says, pilot travel agencies will be able to make reservations on the platform in the 4th quarter of 2020.
Full integration, reinforced with other functions, is expected to be completed in the first half of next year.
“We are excited to expand our longstanding partnership with the Air France-KLM group, in order to deliver innovative retailing capabilities. This is a significant step on our NDC journey to enable adoption at scale,” says Decius Valmorbida, President Travel Unit, Amadeus.
What is NDC?
NDC (New Distribution Capability) is the name of an XML-based standard and program developed by IATA aiming to transform the way that the air products are sold to companies, holiday and business travelers by adressing the distribution limitation of the industry.
