Air Astana and Air India have signed a codeshare agreement to strengthen air travel between Kazakhstan and India. The agreement covers the Almaty-Delhi and Almaty-Mumbai routes, allowing Air India to add its “AI” code to Air Astana’s flights. This partnership is expected to boost business, tourism, and student traffic between the two countries.
This new agreement is a continuation of an interline partnership that began in early 2025. Under the codeshare deal, Air Astana passengers can now connect to 18 domestic and 9 international destinations in India via Delhi and Mumbai. Similarly, Air India passengers will gain access to key hubs in Central Asia and China via Almaty. The collaboration is seen as a move that will support tourism, trade, and cultural exchange.
This strategic partnership significantly expands the networks of both carriers. For Air Astana, it provides a crucial link to India’s vast and rapidly growing market, opening up new business and tourism opportunities. For Air India, the codeshare offers a gateway to Central Asia and beyond, strengthening its position in the region. The seamless booking and travel experience made possible by this agreement are set to encourage greater movement of people and goods, reinforcing the economic and cultural bonds between the two nations.
